Surfing in South Peru

The south coast of Peru has good quality and extremely consistent waves. The main surfing area in this part of the country is in the surroundings of the capital Lima and the city of Punta Hermosa. The water is usually cold due to the Humboldt current that affects most of the west coast of South America. The best time of the year to surf in the south of Peru is during wintertime but even in summer the swells consistency and size are still very generous.
