Surfing in Devon

Devon is a county located in the southwest of England and it’s one of the most popular surfing areas in the country. The reliable beach breaks, especially the famous surf spot of Croyde, attract many surfers for the quality and consistency of the waves. Besides the world class waves of Croyde there are many other breaks that can suit any kind of surfers from beginners to advanced. The best swell direction for this area is west and southwest and easterly winds are offshore in most of the beaches. The very exposed beaches break work throughout the whole year while the coves and sheltered spots break exclusively during wintertime. Having said that Devon can have amazing waves at any time of the year so if you are heading towards that direction make sure to bring your surf equipment.
