Surfing in Rakhine and Ayeyarwady

Rakhine and Ayeyarwady are regions of Myanmar (Burma). Ayeyarwady occupies the delta of the mighty Ayeyarwady River and Rakhine is a mountainous area just above it. Little is known about the potential surf spots that exist in these areas since Myanmar tourism is still very underdeveloped. One thing is for sure, the area receives a fair amount of swell and the delta of the Ayeyarwady River appears to have several sandbars that on the right conditions must have some good or even epic waves.

Chaungtha Beach and Ngwesaung Beach are the most popular surf spots in the area.
