Surfing in Orange County

Orange County is located in Southern California in between Los Angeles and San Diego. This is a highly populated area that thanks to the great amount of surf spots can absorb and spread the crowds. Surfing became popular in California around 1907 when the hawaiian surfer George Freeth introduced the activity in front of a large crowd at Redondo Beach. Soon the easygoing surf and beach lifestyle took over and nowadays it’s embedded in the SoCal culture. In the north of Orange County there are long stretches of sand with good beach breaks, while in the south the coastline has more cliffs and sheltered coves. No matter what your surf style is, there will be a wave waiting for you in Southern California.
