Surfing in North Carolina

North Carolina is located on the east coast of the USA and despite the lack of popularity among the international surf community, has some incredible surf spots to explore. The Outer Banks are the main attraction when it comes to challenging waves for advanced surfers that flock this area every time the waves are pumping. There are other surf spots along the coast of North Carolina but a long continental shelf can considerably reduce the size of the waves especially on the East Coast Beaches. The narrow shelf around the cape's allow that swells reach the coast and unleash all their power straight in well shaped sandbars of the Outer Banks also called Hatteras.
