Surfing in Big Island

Hawaii is commonly known as Big Island since it is the largest one of the archipelago and is still growing. The island is almost double the size of all the others combined and due to the lava flow coming from the active volcano of Kilauea the island is still expanding and shaping new landscapes that can either create new surf spots or destroy existing ones. Big Island is probably the birthplace of surfing since the island is where the Polynesians immigrants started to surf at Kealakekua Bay many centuries ago. There are many surf spots scattered around the island and the best surf spots are located on the east and west coast of the island. If you want to feel the true aloha spirit you have to visit the Big Island to experience it yourself.
