Surfing in Athens

Athens is the capital of Greece and is located at the Attic Peninsula and is bathed by the Aegean Sea. Although there are waves in the Attica area the best chance to find some good quality surf spots is to drive a few hours west from the city to the beaches of Costa Navarino or take a ferry to the Cyclade Islands. The best time of the year to surf in Greece is during the stormy wintertime from November to March when swells are more consistent.

The best surf spots are Agios Dimitrios, Agios Ioannis, Camp, Liani Ammos, Madonna Beach, Thanos Beach, Varkiza Beach and Vrolimmos Beach.
