Bilbao Surf House is a brand new eco-hostel located in the charming city of Sopelana, Basque Country.
This accommodation is perfect for couples, families and groups of friends looking for a relaxing vacation near the beach. The hostel is located within walking distance from La Salvaje Beach and Sopelana Beach (also known as Barinatxe and Arrietara) and also nearby the best pubs in town (La Triangu and Indian).
The main activities at the camp are surf and skate but there are many other outdoor activities to be done. With our experienced instructors, you will have fun while learning all the techniques you need to improve your skills.

THE ACTIVITIES
Surf
The surf school has been established in 2004 and the teachers are locals who know everything from the ocean and the land and are qualified by the Surf Federation. Some of them have a long tradition in worldwide competition.
The beach where the lessons take place is only 5-10min walking from Bilbao Surf House.
The surf lessons are divided by levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced) and there is one instructor for every 10 students.
Private lessons and board rental are also available.
It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced surfer or if it’s your first time, the classes will adapt to you and help you to improve in what you need.
Favorite Surf Spots
The area extending from Biarritz to Bilbao has the best surf coast in Spain and possibly in Europe. One of Europe’s world-class surf spots, Mundaka, is a long powerful left-hander that breaks on a river mouth in the picturesque Gernika estuary, a natural area protected by UNESCO and dominated by the village’s church! Another world-class reef break is Meñakoz, a very big and powerful right. Further good spots in the area include Bakio and Sopelana, both regional classic beach breaks with lefts and rights that are accessible to all kinds of surfers.
Skate
Skate sessions and lessons in the best street skate parks of Bilbao. You will have the chance to skate in the harbor situated in Basauri, in Amezola Square, spots in the city center and many other places and skate parks shown on famous videos of renowned skaters.
The instructors will be skating with you showing you new moves and giving you tips on how to improve your skills.
There will also be someone filming to register all your progress and after the sessions, the instructors will do video analysis and correct your movements

LOCATION & GETTING HERE
LOCATION
Bilbao Surf House is located in the calm and beautiful village of Sopelana. The accommodation is in a very strategical spot, only 10min walking from the beach and 3min walk from the two best pubs in town: The Triangu and Indian Bar.
Also within walking distance, you can find convenience stores, snack houses, and other less famous bars.
There are many places to walk around and see the beautiful landscape of the Basque Country. You can take a walk along the edge of the cliffs to watch colorful sunsets or hike in the middle of the bushes to relax and enjoy nature.
If you want you can also take the metro (the closest station is only 10min walking) and go straight to the city center of Bilbao. There is a lot of famous places to be seen in that area so it’s definitely worth to check that out.

The Basque Country
