Lisbon
Hhas one of the greatest maritime centers and history and the sailing harbour of the great portuguese discoverers such as Magellan. In its golden age, the city rivaled with Seville, Venice or London as the center of the world. Having both, river and sea front, Lisbon spreads across several hills overlooking the Tagus estuary, spanned by a towering suspended bridge, at his mouth on the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon is charming capital with a laid back atmosphere and ramshackle glamour. Crisscrossed by narrow lanes with rattling streetcars and lovely backstreets, the town is a mix of pastel-colored houses, grand palaces, old castles and monuments. In striking contrast with the historic city center, the new waterfront development that hosted the World Exposition offers a wide choice of entertainment, sporting and business facilities.

Once a small fishing village at the foot of the Sintra mountain range, the fate of Cascais changed in 1870 when the royal court came here for summer, with a trail of nobility in its wake.
