THE ACTIVITIES

Surfing in the Maldives

Maldives main surf season is from May to September. This is when the biggest and most frequent swells occur. It is the SW monsoon season so some periods of inclement weather are possible. March/April offers beautiful weather and fun waves, often less crowded than the main season. October/November is also less crowded with fun waves. February/March is a good time for the Southern Atolls.

We offer charters to North/South Male, Central and Southern atolls.

In general surf in Maldives is suitable for intermediate surfers, but it is also possible to find some sheltered waves for the beginners.

North/South Male

The high density of surf spots which means less travel time and more surf time. Is the more crowded surf region, but the wide variety of waves help spread the crowds.

Waves you will surf include:

Chickens, Cokes, Sultans, Honkeys, Jails, Tombstones, Boatyards, Twin Peaks, Quarters, Foxy’s, Tucky Joes and Rip Tides.

Ideal trip length 7 -10 days.

Central Atolls

Requires domestic return flight. Start and finish in Laamu, although customized start/end points are possible. Less crowded area. Surf up to 4 atolls including Laamu, Thaa, Dhaalu, and Meemu. Distances between breaks are slightly further so some travel time between surf spots is required.

Waves you surf will include:

Yin yangs, Mada’s, Machines, Bedhuge, Refugee lefts and rights, Mikado, Finnimas, Adonis, Maliks, Bowling Alley, Mauroofs, Hocus Pocus, Vodi, Veyvah, Mullah point, Mushrooms and F1’s

Ideal trip length 9 – 13 days.

A fuel and yacht repositioning surcharge is required for Central Atolls.

Other activities:

  • We have great fishing gear on board, including trolling and casting rods. We suggest guests bring their favorite lures.
  • Snorkel gear is provided, but feel free to bring your own mask and fins for the best fit.
  • We are able to arrange for diving on request.
  • If you’d like to do some exploring in between your surf days there are some awesome islands, sandbanks and reefs to discover.
  • If you take a day off from surfing you’re able to sail to Vaavu to swim with the friendly sharks, an incredible experience!
