INTRODUCTION
Between lush green forests, dunes and beaches
The Beach House, formerly owned by one of Portugal’s earliest wine-growing families, is located in the middle of green pine trees within a stone’s throw of the natural beach. A relaxed atmosphere with a touch of historical flair is waiting for you.
The lodge is located about 25 kilometres north of the centre of Porto in a small pine forest of the coastal village of Árvore. With a distance of only 400 meters to the sea, you can reach our “home beach” in a few minutes foot walk.
At the northern end of the beach, at the mouth of the river Aves, lies Praia da Azurara, one of the best surf spots in North Portugal, especially known for its consistent conditions as well as for its relaxed atmosphere.

THE ACCOMMODATION
Facilities
The main house and the adjoining house together offer single, double and 3-bed rooms as well as two suites for 4 persons and two dorms.
Except for the dorms, all rooms and suites have a private bathroom and smart TV, a web-enabled TV that offers a variety of multimedia applications, as well as USB ports and wireless charging stations for smartphones.
The large living room in the main house brings all guests together, offering a cosy sitting area, a fireplace and TV as well as a spacious dining room and a sun terrace.
The houses are framed by a beautiful Mediterranean natural garden with large green areas inviting for walks and rest in the shades of the trees.
Meals
Start the day with a rich breakfast and experience the local cuisine
An extensive breakfast buffet with carefully selected products awaits you every morning. The breakfast includes a wide variety of healthy fruits and vegetables as well as sweet and savoury dishes to strengthen you for a whole day: various types of bread, cakes, butter/cream cheese, sausage, cheese and jam as well as muesli in various variations, yoghurt, fruit salad and eggs. We serve hot beverages like coffee and tea, as well as cold ones like water, milk and fresh orange juice.
For additional meals and self-catering a fully equipped, shared kitchen is available any time. Five days a week you can join a communal dinner or BBQ for an extra cost.
Some typical Portuguese cafés and restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity and many more options are waiting for you in the nearby village of Vila do Conde. If you spend the evening in Porto, the culinary variety and the offer of restaurants are even larger, of course.
Free coffee, tea, water, and fruits are available all day long.
THE ACTIVITIES
Surfing
Whether beginner or professional surfer – according to your level, you will find the right wave in the North of Portugal!
The coast has numerous first-class breaks for all surf levels and shows off with mostly uncrowded line-ups at even well-known spots like Matosinhos, Azurara and Aguçadoura.
Miles of unspoiled surf beaches and various piers towering into the Atlantic Ocean offer the best conditions for Porto’s constant surfing all year round. Just a stone´s throw away from the Porto Beach House, between the beaches of Labruge and Azurara, you’ll find loads of beach breaks lined with fine sand dunes and pine forests, where also our surf lessons take place.
Our team consists of experienced and licensed surf instructors who are very familiar with the local conditions. With a lot of empathy, they bring beginners on board and introduce surfers with previous knowledge to the high school of surfing.
A course is attended by a maximum of eight people so that your surf coach can still individually cater to each individual.
Depending on waves and tides there are either two surf lessons of 1.5 hours or one long lesson of 3 hours per day.
Mostly the surf course takes place right at our home beach. If the current conditions don´t allow us to give classes, we will take you to other beaches, where beginners, as well as intermediates and advanced surfers, will get their money’s worth.

- Yoga : During the main and middle season, the yoga classes take place from Monday to Friday in a well spoken English and can be booked on site. Whether you are an advanced yoga student or have never done it before, the classes are adapted to each level. If you want to do yoga on your own, you can use the yoga deck any time as well.

LOCATION & GETTING HERE
Location
The lodge is located about 25 kilometres north of the centre of Porto (35 minutes by metro) in a small pine forest of the coastal village of Árvore, only 400 meters to the sea, 3 surf spots in a few minutes foot walk.
The several kilometres stretched sandy beach is largely protected and part of the natural dune landscape of the Nature Reserve of Mindelo. The beachside is one of the most beautiful the region offers and is equally popular with surfers and beach lovers due to its fine white sand and wave quality.
Getting Here
Only 20 min. from the airport, The destination airport is Porto (OPO). From Northern and Central Europe, you will find numerous airlines regularly flying to Porto.

The easiest way is the airport shuttle which can be booked with us in advance.
If you want to be more flexible, we recommend taking a rental car which can be picked up at the airport all times of the day. Especially in the low season, you can find some really favourable offers.
If you have more time, you can also take the metro linking the districts of Porto pretty well.
Coming from Lisbon by bus or train, your destination station is Campanhã. From there it is another 45 minutes by metro.
