INTRODUCTION
In a few steps from the Meio da Joaquina beach, there is the Florianopolis kite camp and surf school, will give you the opportunity to live a unique brazilian surf experience! Immersed in the green, you will be staying in one of the two studios or three two-bedroom surf houses in front of the beach.
Florianopolis offers perfect conditions for kite and surf: shallow lagoons, open seam many waves spots and well established winds almost every day of the year ( mainly because of geography and affect of the Atlantic trade winds ). During the year, Florianopolis usually provides best conditions for this sport, with more than 250 days per year suitable for sailing.
Florianopolis (locals name it Floripa), situated on the Island of Santa Catarina, is the capital of the homonym state – Santa Catarina (to the South of San Paolo and to the North of Porta Alagre ) Floripa… has 42 sandy beaches surrounded by a colorful landscape sprinkled with lakes, sand dunes, forests that stretch along the coast up to the natural park of Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro.

THE ACCOMMODATION
Renowned as one of the best surf and kite surf destinations, the Florianopolis kite camp and surf school has direct access to the Meio da Joaquina Beach. On immersed in green territory of more than 400 square kilometers of Santa Caterina Island, the camp can accommodate families and large group of friends and families who are looking for a comfortable private accommodation.

Brazilian Food
All Florianopolis Kite Camp and Surf School packages include Brazilian style breakfast, which consists of fruits, cereals, bread, butter, cheese, ham, fruit juices, coffee and milk and other foods upon request.
The cuisine of Florianopolis has been deeply influenced by its past. Seafood is the city’s specialty (oysters and prawns), great part of the seafood is cultivated and consumed along the whole islands. Choose a simple restaurant run by local fishermen and taste different shrimp dishes!
Brazil has a wide variety of food therefore an even wider variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, delis, bakeries, markets and supermarkets. Good quality meals will range from U$ 5 to U$ 30 (top restaurants). Seafood is very cheap and mostly appreciated in most of the coastal cities and in Florianopolis you can get a dozen of oysters for about U$ 3.
Besides that, it is possible to please almost any taste, going form fast food or pizza places to fancy international restaurants. The legal age for purchasing and consuming alcoholic beverages is 18, and a beer costs about U$ 1.5 (600 ml), and a soda or juice about U$ 1.

Florianopolis Kite Camp and Surf School offers private kiteboarding lessons for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.The Kitesurf course is designed to help you learn in a safe way and reach your goals as safely and quickly as possible.
International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) certified BSA instructor will respect your learning rate and take you through all the steps to reach your goals. While not yet as well known a kiteboarding destination as northern Brazil,Florianopolis is an ideal spot for you to learn kitesurfing. Lagoa da Conceição with its calm waters is the perfect spot for learning and Barra da Lagoa and Campeche waves are ideal for downwinds.
Surfing
Florianopolis Kite Camp and Surf School offers a surf program to meet everyone’s needs. Whether you have never surfed before and always dreamed of learning or if you just want to improve your existing skills, there is coaching that will enable you to reach your goals in a fun, comfortable and safe learning environment.
Your instructors will spend a great deal of time with you teaching and helping you improve your technique, including paddling form, board balance, wave positioning, dropping in, getting to your feet, and once you’re comfortable with that, more advanced topics such as carving and cutbacks.

A taste of history…
Florianopolis – or “Desterro” – was founded in 1700 from Portuguese immigrants. Since then, it’s gradually developed from a sleepy provincial backwater into the state capital of Santa Caterina. Having several bridges linking the island with the mainland, Florianopolis today is the administrative, commercial and tourist centre. Despite all the changes, though, the late nineteenth-century pastel-colored, stuccoes buildings still recall faint “old world” images, while the relaxed, small-town atmosphere provides a total contrast to the excitement of São Paulo or Rio.

Climate
Florianopolis has a subtropical climate with rainfall well distributed throughout the year. The seasons are well defined. Summer is hot and has the highest rainfall. Spring and fall are similar, spring is usually very windy. Winter is cool and with low precipitation. Cold fronts coming from the Southern Atlantic and Antarctica pass frequently in the region, bringing rain followed by days of strong southern winds.
Visa
Holders of passports of the 90 jurisdictions, including most of European countries, New Zealand, Russia, Mexico do not require a visa to visit Brazil up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes (unless otherwise noted). An identity document is accepted instead of a passport in some cases. U.S, Canadian require a visa. Australian citizens can use eVisa. Major cities of Brazil has an excellent network of private hospitals and clinics in the major cities. Private medical assistance can be more expensive, but Brazil has a public health service that will look after foreign visitors in case of emergency. Before you leave we highly recommend you to buy travel insurance.
Safety
Florianopolis is the safest place in Brazil. People like jogging at night, and girls do hitch hiking. You can’t even do that in Europe! Here, violent crimes against tourists or foreign visitors, are extremely rare. Just do not forget to leave your stuff unattended, especially in big town where robbery and pick pocketing are more common in the streets ( leave travelers checks, passports, air tickets and other documents in the hotel safe box). Do not forget your valid passport and/or ID. Bring it always with you,or at least, a photocopy of them.
Money
The Brazilian currency is called “Real” (“heh-ALL”). The Atm and Bank network throughout Brazil accepts most of the bank/credit card network/operators. Cash and traveler checks can be exchanged in banks and exchangers.
Getting Here
The Florianopolis kite camp and surf school is located in front of the Meio da Joaquina Beach, it is 30 mins from Florianopolis International Airport (FLN) , airport transfer included in all of the packages.

You will have to take an international flight to Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paolo and then hop on a domestic flight to Florianopolis.
