Surfing in Taranaki

Taranaki is located on the western coast of New Zealand’s northern island. The area has some of the best surf breaks in the country and it’s home to the State Highway 45, usually called Surf Highway by the locals due to the amount of surf spots that can be found driving along this beautiful road. There are many kinds of surf spots that can suit any surfers ability from mellow beach breaks to hollow point breaks with rocky bottom. This area receives plenty of swell all year round.
