Surfing in Severn Estuary

The Severn Estuary is located on the south coast of Wales and it’s a portuary region with contracting landscapes and nice beach breaks. The best surfing is found in between the town of Porthcawl and Llantwit. Although the strong tides of the Severn River hold back part of the swell, powerful west swells can bring the beach, reefs and point breaks alive. The best time of the year to surf in this area is from Autumn to spring.

The best waves in the area are found in between Porthcawl and Llantwit: Ogmore Beach, Coney Beach, Rest Bay and Southerndown are the most well known spots.
