Surfing in Northland

Northland is a subtropical region located on the far north of New Zealand northern island known for having great weather, warm water and killer surf spots. With two coasts and a wide swell window this area has extremely consistent surf conditions and not many surfers around. Any hint of swell coming from any direction will lit up the numerous and uncrowded reefs, points and beach breaks of this area. Northland is not too far from Auckland and the Twin Coast Discovery Highway can take you to most of the breaks making this region ideal for a road trip.

The best surf spots are Mangawhai Beach, Sandy Bay, The Box, Tokelau Beach, Taupo Beach, Waipu and Takou Bay.
