Surfing in Litoral Paulista

São Paulo is a state located in the southeast of Brazil and is one of the main suf hubs in the country. The sub tropical coastline of the São Paulo has many good quality surf breaks that has produced two world surfing champions, Gabriel Medina from Maresias and Adriano de Souza from Guarujá. Most of the surf spots are beach breaks but the area also has some points, bays and jetties that can create good surf. The best surf spots in the area are located around the city of Ubatuba and Itamanbuca. There are also good waves near the capital but these spots can get extremely crowded. The best time of the year is during the winter when the South Atlantic ocean pushes in swells that can activate some of the reefs and points of the area.

The best and most famous surf spots are Maresias, Praia Brava, Felix, Guaratuba, Itamambuca, Paúba, Pitangueiras, Praia da Bertioga, Praia do Cepilho, Praia do Tombo and Ubatuba.
