Surfing in Hong Kong and Guangdong

Hong Kong is not usually associated with surfing but the island has lots of fun beach breaks and even some classic point breaks. Surfing started to be practiced by US soldiers in the 60s and nowadays is frequently practiced by locals and expats. The best time to surf in Hong Kong is during the winter monsoon or in the typhoon season when epic swells can reach the coast of the island.

The best surf spots are Big Wave Bay, Cheung Sha, Pui O, Repulse Bay, Shek O and Tai Long Wan.
