Surfing in Hainan

Hainan is one of the main surfing areas in the country and it’s also a popular holiday destination due to the tropical climate and beautiful scenery. There are a few well known surfing spots scattered along the coast of Hainan but there is still plenty of space for exploration. Most of the waves consist of mellow beach breaks most of them breaking to the left. The best time to surf in the island is during the typhoon season from August to October or in the winter monsoon time from November to March.

The best surf spots are Abalone Farm, Buddha Beach, Da Hua Jaio, Sanya Bay, Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay, Houhai Bay, West Island, Bo’ao, Ri Yue Bay, Shimei Bay, Tanya Haijao and Wuzhizhou Island.
