Tonel Beach Surf Camp - Sagres, Algarve. Portugal

INTRODUCTION

We, a local Portuguese family, set up a Surf School in 2003, and since then expanded by opening the Surf Camp and Surf Shop. We make sure the quality is high by keeping our capacity manageable so you get the attention you deserve.

We have worked hard to earn our good reputation for being one of the best surf schools and surf camps in Portugal – we do this by providing our customers with quality professional service.

Our spacious and beautifully decorated Portuguese house has great views of the area and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Just a few minutes drive from the best surf spots of Sagres and only 5 minutes walk from the town centre, everything is right on your doorstep. After surfing, relax in our tropical garden with ping pong and balance games while you decide what you’d like to do for dinner. We love to make you feel welcome and completely at home, and we’re never far away if you need help with anything!

The house is big and can comfortably accommodate 37 persons. We have shared rooms (3 or 4 persons), double (one bed) and twin (two beds) room. All rooms have a private bathroom.

THE ACTIVITIES

A day at the Camp

The day starts at 8.30 in the breakfast room, where you’ll find the best fresh breakfast to give you lots of energy for surfing! Fresh bread, ham, cheese, chourico, eggs, pancakes, cereals, fruits, yogurts, coffee, milk, tea, fresh juice and home made cake. You can also make your sandwich to take for lunch at the beach.

At around 9.30 we load the vans with you and your surfboards, then drive to where the best waves are! On arrival at the beach you will be given your equipment and split into groups that match your level of surfing.

When the morning surf sessions ends, rest your muscles and mind, eat your lunch, and relax to build up your energy for the afternoon session. Then we pack the vans and drive back to the Surf Camp, usually at around 6 or 6.30 pm.

You can use the kitchen if you want to cook your own dinner, or depending on the groups, you could join us for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.

After dinner you can relax at the camp and choose a movie to watch or if you still have some energy, party with us in our local bar.

But remember… the waves will be waiting for you the next morning!!

In our surf camp, there are activities at the surf camp such as barbecue nights, burger nights, and yoga classes. All booked at the reception with additional cost.

Chill atmosphere

"We really liked the place. It was beautiful location, house has a lot of places inside the house to chill and to enjoy good time with people. I recommend this place. Rooms are clean and functional. They just should add one more fridge to have more space to keep the food cold that’s it. The food was fresh and good every day ! Surf coaching was fun. What i would change is maybe having smaller group (like maximum 6 people) to be able to improve faster. We enjoyed the BBQ organized by the surf house! Thanks"

Surfholiday

"Nice rooms, breakfast, ambiente and people. Price is totally fair. Perfect for surfers and travellers. The surfschool is located at the house and the cars come to pick you up right in front to go surfing."

Perfectly relaxed

"Great atmosphere, great people, great teachers! The breakfast is the best I've had in Portugal. The way of teaching is very good. I managed to stand up within one day, which I couldn't after three days in my former surfing effort. I'll have to get back here one day to do a proper week of surfcamp."
