INTRODUCTION
Madeira Surfboard Shaping Retreat is a Surf Board shaping Course, and a project that shares a lifestyle with those who are willing to connect with the sea. The project has six dimensions: Lodge, surf school, Yoga, shape room, surf trips, and event organization.
It’s aim is to allow people from different origins to engage in an island odyssey and create the conditions for a deeper surf experience. We want those involved to understand better the sea and the type of tools that can be used to surf different types of waves.
The Art of Fabricating a Surf Board
We will accompany those engaged through a path that starts with building the board up to the use of those magic carpets! Our mission is to facilitate an authentic surfing experience and of a lifestyle associated with the sea and Mother Nature.
THE ACCOMMODATION
Madeira Surf-Board Shaping Retreat
The accommodation is in a Residential Area of Funchal, and its only 5 m from the beach. Also its walking distance to Bars, Great Restaurants, small Super Markets, and the best night life in Funchal. The prices in Madeira Island are cheap compared to rest of Europe.

THE ACTIVITIES
Surf
Surf lessons available for all levels, 2 hours per day. If you already know how to surf we will give you best best euipment and local knowledge for the best experience, you are also welcome if you bring your own equipment.
Most Frequent Surf Spots
The spots for beginners are Praia da Alagoa, and Praia Miata in Porto da Cruz where we have a school on the beach is in the North of the Island. Praia Machico and Praia do Sixal are also good surf spots with a safe vulcanic sand bottom.
For intermediates the best options are Cabo Girão (right), Lugar de Baixo (right), Fajã de Areia ( right and left), Sao Vicente
(left) and Achadas da Cruz (right).
For advanced ones Jardim do Mar, Ponta Pequena and Paul do Mar, these 3 spots are within a radius of 2 kilometers and are 3 perfect rights. A good option as well is Ponta do Pargo (right, by boat) in the southwest of the Island. Ponta Delgada, Contreiras and Ribeira da Janela are very good and perfect lefts in the North of the Island.
Yoga
Ruben Fernandes Yoga instructor has teacher training course in sattva chikitsa yoga and specialization course in Dynamic yoga with Gustavo Ponce, creator of methods and direct disciple of B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois and T.K.V. Desikachar course made in Chile.
Visit Cristiano Ronaldo Museum
You will be able to visit the CR7 Museum in Funchal

Location
Madeira Island Surfboard shaping course is offered in the heart of the best residential areas of Funchal, only 5 m from the ocean. The surf spots are between 10 minutes to 20 minutes by car. Airport 10 minutes. The house area has the best restaurants and night clubs in Funchal.
Getting Here
Make your way to Madeira International Airport Cristiano Ronaldo CR7, commonly known as Madeira Airport, or Funchal Airport.
- We offer airport transfers for an extra cost
- An airport bus runs every 45 minutes (around 5 Euros), and arrive near the house, 2minutes walk
- Rent a car it is a good idea to explore the island

Surfboard Shaping Course
Come and learn how to shape a surfboard with Billy, 34 years of experience shaping boards.
Cost: 570 EUR
Time: 4 Days, 7 h a day
You will shape a surfboard in 3 steps: Shape; Fiberglass the board; Finish the board with sandpaper
If the student (new shaper) want to shape a personalized board it is an extra 350 EUR to keep the board.
The shape course is recognized for the Portuguese institute IPDJ
