All rooms are spacious and are fitting with all the comforts such as air conditioning, thick mattresses, linen, cable tv, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite bathrooms with hot water and toiletries. When not catching great waves at the Kabalana Rock surf break or South Point surf break guests can tan by the side of the pool thanks to our sun decks. Yoga can also be arranged in advanced or if you’d you can sneak into the kitchen and see how they prepare your favourite Sri Lankan dishes. For the more active there are many things to see in the area such as river safaris, ancient temples, snake farms, whale watching or the Galle Fort.
The Kabalana Hotel can host a maximum of 24 guests in its 12 rooms. There is provision to add 2 extra beds but that is on a first come first served basis. If you are booking more than one room and are planning to stay for a while, speak to us and we can give you a discount. There is free parking at the back of the hotel and if you require transport we can arrange it for you.
We are open all year around. Book early for the season to avoid disappointment and if you are coming during the offseason do speak to us and we can offer you a discounted price or offer you a package with our other villas around the island. The hotel isn’t pet friendly but we welcome children.
The Kabalana Hotel consists of 12 single story rooms laid out across a large garden. Each room is spacious, air-conditioned, with tea/coffee making facilities, cable tv, safe, toiletries, linen and an en-suite bathroom with hot water. A large pool accompanied with a sun deck for tanning is available for all to use as well as the chill out areas that are spread out throughout the property. It sits across the road from the beach and is walking distance to two surfing beaches; The infamous Kabalana Rock which is 600 meters away and the lesser known South Point Beach which is 50 meters away.
The property has a pool to cool off in, sun decks to soak some sun, little garden lounges to chill out in or you can stay in your room and catch a movie on cable tv or if you have your own, plug into the tv via USB. The restaurant next door serves a great deal of Sri Lankan food; some authentic, some with a modern twist. WiFi is freely availably throughout the property, places such as the restaurant and pool side are where they are strongest.
The restaurant serves meals throughout the day. A Sri Lankan menu that has light items as well as heavy meals can be ordered throughout the day. A smoothie bar is a great way to replenish oneself after a surf or yoga session. Special theme nights such as BBQ or Japanese nights will feature a separate menu. LOCATION & GETTING HERE
The Hotel is located just outside the small village of Kathaluwa. The village is quaint and small with a few shops and food outlets run by the locals. What makes Kathuluwa accessible is that it has a bus point, trishaw park as well as a train station making it easy to get in and out of. Some may feel a bit alienated in Kathuluwa and is a small town but what makes it ideal is the fact that is in the middle of all the local attractions.
Within the space of half an hour in either direction you can visit many sites in the area such as:
- The Galle Fort (25 min drive) for a dose of colonial culture and restaurants
- Unawatuna Beach Strip (20 min drive) for seaside chilling and late night partying
- If you like reptiles the snake farm is the place to visit (15 min)
- Whale Watching in Mirissa is a must during season to see aquatic mammals out in the ocean (30mins)
