Meet the Team Behind Nomad Surf Camps

Where Safety, Fun, and Lifelong Memories Begin

At Nomad Surf Camps, our biggest strength is our people. Behind every surf lesson, beach activity, and evening BBQ is a dedicated team of professionals who genuinely care about the teenagers in our camps. Many of our staff return year after year, building lasting connections with our campers and their families.

Why Parents Trust Us

We understand that sending your child to a surf camp is a big decision. That’s why we place safety, comfort, and care at the top of our priorities. Every member of our team undergoes rigorous selection, background checks, and comprehensive training to ensure they meet our high standards.

Our staff aren’t just surf instructors — they’re mentors, role models, and guardians while your kids are away from home.

Watch the Team in Action

Our team introducing themselves, talking about safety and sharing favourite moments.

Some of our staff’s own words:

"For me, it’s not just about teaching surfing. It’s about making sure every camper feels safe, included, and supported from the moment they arrive."Inês, Camp Manager, Portugal

"We make it a priority to know every camper by name within the first day. That personal connection is what creates trust."Luis, Senior Surf Coach

"Parents often tell us how much their kids have grown in confidence during the week. That’s the best feedback we can get."Clara, Activities Coordinator

Building Bonds That Last

Our campers often tell us that their favourite part of Nomad isn’t just the surfing — it’s the friendships they make with both staff and fellow campers. Our team works around the clock to create an environment where kids feel safe, supported, and inspired.

We provide:

  • 24/7 supervision with staff staying on-site
  • Clear safety procedures for all activities
  • Healthy meals designed for active teenagers
  • Daily communication with parents when needed

Parents Say It Best

We’re proud to share what parents have written about our team:

"The instructors were amazing with my son — attentive, caring, and always making sure he was safe in and out of the water."Parent from France Camp

"We could see from the first day that our daughter was in great hands. The staff were professional but also warm and approachable."Parent from Portugal Camp

Goodbyes Are Never Easy

On the final day of camp, you can often see our staff and campers getting emotional as they say goodbye. The hugs, the tears, and the promises to keep in touch show just how close the bonds become in just one week.

A Bond That Lasts Beyond the Waves

Our staff form genuine connections with campers. They remember names, encourage shy kids to join in, and celebrate each camper’s achievements – whether it’s catching their first wave or making their first international friends.

Our Promise to Parents

We take pride in the trust parents place in us. Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities, and our dedicated team works tirelessly to provide a camp experience that’s not only fun and exciting, but also safe, supportive, and enriching.

FAQ

Q1: Who looks after the teens at night?
Our chaperones and senior staff sleep on-site with campers. Accommodation areas are supervised, and access is restricted to authorised staff and guests only.

Q2: Are staff background-checked and trained?
Yes. Staff complete international background checks, and first-aid certification

Q3: What are your supervision ratios?
We keep small group ratios in the water and during activities so every teen gets attention, support, and safety oversight. 6 to 10 kids per surf instructor, and maximum 12 kids per chaperones other times of the day.

Q4: How do you manage safety in the ocean?
Daily risk assessments, spot checks for tides/wind, and clear rules. Sessions run only in suitable conditions and are led by qualified surf coaches.

Q5: Will my child be comfortable in the accommodation?
Accommodation is clean, supervised, and teen-friendly. Amenities vary by location (Portugal, Spain, France). When an amenity is offered at a venue, we list it on the specific camp page.

Q6: Do rooms have air conditioning?
Some venues do, some don’t. We only advertise AC when it’s actually available at that venue. Where AC isn’t available, we manage comfort with ventilation, shade, hydration, and schedule adjustments.

Q7: How do you communicate with parents?
Camp managers are available for daily updates if needed. For anything important, we contact you proactively.

Q8: What happens if my teen feels unwell or anxious?
We have clear wellbeing and medical protocols: on-site first aid, local clinic access, and a dedicated staff member to support your child and keep you informed.

Q9: How do meals and dietary needs work?
We provide balanced meals for active teens and can accommodate common dietary needs with advance notice.

Q10: Can we meet the team before booking?
Yes! Watch our “Meet the Team” video on this page to hear from coaches and chaperones about safety, care, and what a day at camp looks like.
