Surfing in Garden Route

Garden Route is a district located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa in between Cape Town and Jeffreys Bay. This stretch of coast is famous for having countless number of right hander point breaks that can fire at any time of the year. There are all kinds of setups from protected bays to exposed beach breaks but the result is usually the same, perfect and long right handers peeling for hundreds of meters. The area is also known for the abundant and diverse fauna and flora that inhabit the mountains and valleys of the region. The biodiversity also happens in the oceans where dolphins and all kinds of sea life can be spotted including sharks. The best time of the year to surf in the Garden Route is during the winter months from May to August when the prevailing winds are usually offshore and bigger swells are more consistent.
