The Resort offers a smorgasbord of aquatic activities in a crystal blue water right at your front door. The surf shuttle will zip you twice daily to breaks right in our backyard such as the famous.
Telescopes lefthander and also up and down the coast to other waves such as HT’s, Rifles and Nokandui’s. You can even become a certified diver during your holiday at our fully equipped dive training center.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Nestled within the serene Mentawai Islands lies Aloita, a remote paradise, offering just 10 cozy beachfront villas. Surrounded by lush island greenery and a private 2km stretch of pristine white sand, it’s a secluded retreat for those seeking tranquility.
1 Bedroom Villa (sleeps up to 3)
Discover comfort and flexibility in our spacious bedroom, offering a double bed or two single beds, plus a comfortable sofa that easily transforms into an extra bed for up to 3 guests. Thoughtfully designed, the room includes space for a cabinet and study area, blending functionality with relaxation. Step outside onto your private terrace with inviting lounge chairs for moments of relaxation. Inside, enjoy the modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower. In the back, you’ll find an outdoor garden with an additional outdoor shower and storage for surfboards.
2 Bedroom Villa (sleeps up to 5)

You will enjoy a delicious meal at our open-air restaurant, this is a wonderful place to enjoy some nice specialties. All buffet style meals are served daily which are designed not just to delight your taste buds, but also replenish and refuel your body. We specialize in a variety of seafood dishes using fresh produce caught in local waters, but we certainly don’t limit ourselves to fish. You can expect anything from pasta dishes to pizza to steaks to chicken! And all meals are complemented well with a variety of vegetable, rice, fruit dishes, etc. – all high quality, high energy, and healthy.
The Bar
The Lounge Bar is one of the best places to relax after a day of surfing. Sitting right on the beach with a beautiful front deck that projects literally over the water at high tide, the Lounge is without a doubt the coolest place to have a drink, watch a DVD, or do absolutely nothing in the Mentawais.
THE ACTIVITIES
Surf
Between April and October, the islands receive constant swells. Shoulder season months generally have smaller swells but are also less crowded. Waves are mostly in the two to six-foot range depending on the spot.

More than 70% of the waves in the Mentawais are accessible within an hour by speedboat from the Resort. Right in our backyard only 10 minutes away are five well known consistent spots including Telescopes the world-class lefthander which offers longer and straighter barrels than Maccaronies when it is firing.
Mellower waves are also close by including a fun learners wave right at the end of Aloita Beach. There are still a few secret spots we keep to ourselves though you might just find yourself surfing them when conditions are right! Our Western surf guide will ensure you are always in the right place at the right time.
There are so many options to choose from, and we always consult the needs and desires of our guests to come to a group decision about what is the best call for the day, for example, a Day trip to the Playground area to the north, for waves such as Rifles, Four Bobs, Nokandui, Nipussi, or Bankvaults or South trip to the Peninsula area is the call for waves such as Bintangs, Lances Left, or HTs.
Surf School
All you need is 10 minutes walk to get to learn or improve your skills, it is a reef break, but safe and without any strong current. You will be in the water the best time according to the tide and conditions for your level. All you need is a pair of surf booties for coral reef and a long-sleeved rash guard for protection.

LOCATION & GETTING HERE
LOCATION
The Resort is located only 15 minutes away from the main port of Mentawai on the small tropical island of Simakakang. This secluded island is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, white sand beaches, turquoise water, and a magnificent coral reef.
The Island is well connected with the Sumatran mainland by regular ferry services.
Getting Here
1. Getting to Padang (Bali- Indonesia)
The best way to get to Padang is to fly from Jakarta (with Garuda or Lion Air) or Kuala Lumpur (with Air Asia).
2. Getting to the Mentawais (3 and half hours by Mentawai Fast ferry): You have two options
A. Book the TRANSFER PACKAGE and let us take care of everything for you. This includes all transfers from Padang airport to your hotel and to the harbor the following morning, 15 kg luggage allowance, and porters.
B. Organise your own transfer to Tua Pejat (capital port of the Mentawais) where you will be greeted by our staff and transferred by our speedboat.
3. Getting to the Surf Resort Mentawai

Better to know before you go!
Please note: All guests must arrive in Padang the night before Mentawai Fast ferry departure due to the early morning schedule.
On return, depending on flight times, most guests require an overnight stay in Padang.
The Mentawai Fast ferry departs from Padang every Monday at 06:00 am, Wednesday and Friday at 07:00 am.
The Mentawai Fast ferry departs from Mentawais, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 3:00 pm and arrives in Padang at approximately 6:30 pm.

Arrive in Padang (anytime on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday) and meet our crew at the airport.
Transfer from airport to your hotel by private car.

Insurance / Evacuation
For your personal safety, travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is mandatory. In case of an emergency, we will assist you in contacting your insurance company.
Travel documents
Entry into Indonesia requires a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
Visa
Visitors from most countries do not require a visa. A 30-day tourist visa on arrival still applies for some countries (35 USD). Another option is to apply at the Indonesian embassy in your country for a 60-day tourist visa. Please check with your embassy.
Surf Boards
Indonesia customs allow a maximum of 3 surfboards for personal use. Additional boards will be considered imports and will be charged a fee (approx. 100 USD per board).
Mentawai Surf Tax:
Surfers must pay a surfing tax of 1,000,000 IDR (approx. 80 USD) per 15 day stay. This tax is to be paid to the tourism office in Tua Pejat/Mentawai on your arrival. We collect and pay it for you.
Payments
The local currency in Indonesia is Rupiah (IDR). Cash withdrawals can be made at ATMs in Padang. You can also bring foreign currency to exchange in Padang. We accept cash (only IDR), VISA and MasterCard. Unfortunately, we do not accept American Express.
Porters
At the harbour, there is no way to load/unload your bags without the help of porters. Price depends on number of bags and boards. If you choose any of our TRANSFER PACKAGES, porters are included. Bargaining with porters can be unpleasant, therefore we recommend choosing one of our packages to avoid possible misunderstandings.
Internet
Free WiFi is provided. However, due to our remote location, the signal can be temperamental. For those needing a reliable connection, we suggest buying an Indonesian Telkomsel SIM card in Padang (approx. 150,000 IDR / 10 USD with 2 GB of data). Please make sure the vendor activates the card.
Mosquitoes / Malaria
Mosquito bites can bring several diseases, so personal precautions are suggested. Risk of contracting malaria is extremely low in the Mentawai Islands.
First Aid Kit / Doctor
We have a first aid kit on premises, however, we strongly recommend bringing your own medications. In particular, an antiseptic to clean cuts and antibiotics in case of infection. We do not have a doctor on site. There is a local hospital in Tua Pejat (half hour away).

Surfers Packs
SURF PASS:
Only for surfers. 79 USD per person per day. It includes 2 daily surf sessions by boat to the best waves in the area, accompanied by our experienced surf guides. Optional surf photography packages available. Days should be chosen in advance, as the number of surfers is restricted to 18 people. Days must be consecutive. Otherwise you can choose once in person, if space is available. If the Surf Pass is purchased in person, the price is 100 USD per person per day, regardless if you choose 1 or 2 sessions.
MENTAWAI SURF TAX: All surfers must pay a surfing tax of 2.000.000 Idr (approx. 130 USD) to the Mentawai Tourism Office. We will collect and pay it for you once you are in Aloita. The tax is valid for 15 days.

Price: 100 USD per person each way. We offer an ALL-IN transfer package from the airport in Padang to Aloita and return. This includes all transfers from the airport to the hotel of your choice (we usually recommend the Mercure or the Santika) and to the harbour the following morning. It also includes the Mentawai Fast ferry ticket.
