Duke of Edinburgh Award

Complete Your DofE Award at a Surf Camp

Turn an unforgettable summer into a recognised achievement

A Structured Approach

Many of our UK and international students choose to complete part of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award during their time at Nomad Surf Camps.

Our programmes allow teenagers to combine a fun, active holiday with meaningful progress toward their award—all within a safe, fully supervised environment.

We understand that for parents, it's not just about the experience; it's about ensuring the time spent at camp is recognised and properly documented.

Why Parents Choose Nomad

For many families, it's the ideal way to ensure their child's summer is both enjoyable and productive.

  • 24/7 supervised environment
  • International mix of teenagers
  • Experienced and supportive staff
  • Structured, active programmes
  • Clear communication and organisation

Minimal Disruption, Maximum Benefit

Our programme is designed to integrate seamlessly into the camp experience. There are no classroom sessions or additional pressure — students simply build their DofE progress alongside their normal daily activities.

This ensures they still enjoy:

  • A relaxed and fun holiday atmosphere
  • Time with new international friends
  • A healthy balance of activity and downtime

Important Info for Parents

Nomad Surf Camps provides supervision, activity tracking, and a final assessor report.

However, as with all Duke of Edinburgh Award activities, final approval sits with your child's DofE coordinator or school.

  • We recommend confirming suitability with them prior to booking.

What sections can be completed?

Physical

Surfing provides an excellent way to complete the Physical section. Students take part in regular, structured surf sessions, building fitness, confidence, and resilience in the ocean.

Skills

Surfing can also be developed as a skill, with a focus on technique, ocean awareness, consistency, and progression throughout the week.

Volunteering

  • Rinsing/organising equipment
  • Basic end-of-session setup
  • Beach clean-up activities
  • Assisting younger campers
