We have the Summer Camp business license and Tourist Entertainment. Each participant or group is covered by a personal accident insurance, as well as a liability insurance.
Supervision, safety and security procedures are an integral part of our daily, 24 hours operation.
HEALTH CARE
The Camp has 10 hectares entirely fenced, with one entrance, automatic gates and surveillance. For extra security there are video cameras placed in strategic points, controlled by a central monitor. Having a permit, required by law, the Camp has fire detectors, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, lighting boards, meeting point and burglar alarms.
The has contracts with an HACCP company – Food Safety, Pest Control and Medicine, Health and Safety at Work. At the pool´s entrance (which is properly sealed and closed, when not being used) there is a scoreboard with a list of safety rules.
MEDICAL CARE
The Camp is located 2Km from health centers with doctors and nurses always present during working hours. The District Hospital is located in Santarém (about 15 Km from Cartaxo), and has a pediatric emergency room, with very good medical and humanitarian conditions.
During camp, we always have staff trained in First Aid or Nursing able to handle situations in light infirmary and give support when needed. Medication will only be administered with Parent’s or Guardian’s consent. Health Centers, Fire Department and Police station are always informed of the beginning and end of each Summer Camp.
On arrival, all medication must be handed to the Responsible Monitor and kept in a safe place. The medication must be registered in the participant’s registration form. All medication must be identified and with instructions. If for any reason a child is taken to a doctor/hospital the parents/guardians will be informed as soon as possible.
In the information form parents/guardians should register any information considered necessary. This information is totally confidential (please do not withhold any problem that may exist), We consider ourselves capable of solving any situation if warned. Every situation is treated with great sensibility, ensuring that the child never feels ashamed / embarrassed.
Sometimes family situations affect the child’s behavior during camp. Please inform us of any change that might have happened. Hygiene: Participants are supervised to maintain their personal hygiene. Our policy is that everyone takes a shower daily and washes their teeth.
Helpful Tips
Eight helpful tips to prepare your child to participate in a Summer Camp
1.Encourage your child’s independence whenever you can. Try letting him stay at a friend’s house or a weekend at his grandparents house. It will be a good exercise for his preparation.
2. Do not let him feel anxiety or worry on your part.
3. Talk to him about the subject and talk with enthusiasm. Remember he will greatly benefit from this experience.
4. Propose a friend to accompany him on this adventure. Later the two may remember the event with enthusiasm.
5. Missing … Yes, it’s very natural and even healthy. It will be a good exercise for the future to help him overcome this feeling. He will give greater value to everything he has. For this reason help him not to quit! Do not bribe him; the reward will be the victory achieved and his new self-confidence and independence.;
6. Send him a personal item in his bags (Ex.: Teddy bear or pillow!)
7. Do not feel guilty for sending him on this adventure. Remember that it is an important step in the growth of your child; it’s a complement to his education. Later, he will thank you!
8. Feel free to speak openly with the camp director or the monitor responsible. Call as many times as you need to ensure that all is well.
Benefits
Parents / guardians want the best opportunities for their children; they want them to have whatever is necessary to be happy and to succeed, good health, ability to understand others, ability to solve problems and thoughts, and a good opinion of themselves.
Children need self-esteem, improvement of their personal skills, self-confidence and independence. The experience of a summer camp provides an environment away from distractions, pressures and in some cases hostile environments in the city. All these steps are necessary in the path of any child for a healthy and productive life.
BUT WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SUMMER CAMPS?
The answer lies in the fact that summer camp does more than just keep the child or teenager busy. Parents send their children because of the positive impact it has on their development.
It is proved that the main benefits are:
- Increase self-confidence and self-esteem;
- Provide a safe place;
- Opportunities for new friendships;
- Offer playful activities;
- “Learning to relate with people at a deeper level than at school or in everyday life, because we live together and get to know each other better …”
- Emotional, enthusiastic, friendship and camaraderie environment.
The acknowledged psychologist Dr.Robert Ditter, who specializes in treating children and teenagers, said that summer camps help to develop emotional intelligence. He states that camps contribute to the development of three skills based on emotion:
- Cognitive (EQ – Emotional Quotient);
- Social (EQ);
- Emotional (EQ).
Other benefits include creating competencies for life that may help these children to be successful at their jobs, as productive adults. While they practice living at camp and at their activities, research reveals that children learn and practice competencies like: collaboration, communication, problem solving, conflict solving, leadership, team-work, independence, autonomy, and resilience. These skills cannot be taught in a conventional way, rather, they are developed through experience.

LOCATION & GETTING HERE
Location
Located on the periphery of cartaxo, just 45 minutes north of lisbon. The Camp is located 2Km from health centers
Lisbon
Located in an unique natural landscape, capital Lisboa, city with a temperate climate and privileged geographic location, has great features to host a high diversity of fauna and flora. The Tagus River and its rich estuary, the Monsanto Forest Park and the proximity of the sea are also critical for the environmental conditions of the city. There are hundreds of places to see in Lisbon.
Some are deceptively well hidden in between the narrow streets of the city, so the best for you to do is venture out and discover them! Filled with an ancient history and a contemporary lifestyle, Lisbon perfectly combines the old and the new. Head towards Belém to see the majestic Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the famous Torre de Belém and the many museums around it. Don’t forget to try out the famous Pastéis de Belém.
Peniche
Peniche is located the center of west Portugal, about 89 km north of the country capital, Lisbon.
It was an island until the Middle Ages, but it progressively became a peninsula as from the seventeenth century. Legend has it that a group of Lusitanians escaping retaliation by Julius Caesar’s hosts took refuge in the island and founded the town. Nowadays Peniche town is located in a peninsula with aproximately 10Km perimeter that forms an isthmus where the Cape Carvoeiro is it’s western limit.
To the west of the Peniche peninsula is to be found in the Atlantic ocean the Berlengas archipelago a Natural Reserve home to abundant sea life with some endemic flora and fauna species but also excellent shipwreck sites great for scuba diving. Surfing has been part of Peniche’s daily lifestyle for the last decade or so. Records of foreign surfers date back to the mid 1960’s. Nowadays the region is Portugal’s main surfing area and although there’s no large urban centre it is considered by many the true Portuguese surf capital. The variety of surf spots available providing unique consistency in Portugal but also the ASP World Tour Championship presence in October are two of the main reasons for this claim.
Visit Fatima
Fatima is a town located 142 km North of Lisbon. Fatima is one of the most important catholic shrines in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Fatima’s Sanctuary welcomes millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. Fatima’s fame is due to the Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary that appeared to three shepherd children; Lucia dos Santos and her two younger cousins, Francisco and Jacinta. Between May and October of 1917, the three children witnessed several apparitions. The last one, on October 13th, was confirmed by a miracle witnessed by 60,000 people known in the catholic world as “the day the sun danced”.
Fatima now attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world, particularly on the pilgrimage days in May and October. The large torch-light processions in the evening are particularly impressive, often lead by Cardinals and Bishops. The pilgrims gather in Cova de Iria an enormous plaza where a little chapel was built and where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared to the children. Around the plaza are a considerable number of shops and stalls selling various religious articles.
On the far side of the plaza rises the great basilica, built in the in neo-classical style, with a central tower 65 meters high, the construction of which was begun on 13 of May 1928. It is flanked by colonnades linking it with the extensive convent and hospital buildings. In the basilica are the tombs of two of the three visionaries, siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto, who died in 1919 and 1920 respectively, and were beatied in 1970. The third seer, Lucia dos Santos, died in 2005.
Visit Sintra
Sintra is an enjoyable tourist destination that was historically associated with the Portuguese nobility. Portugal’s rulers constructed lavish and extravagant palaces amidst the hills of the Serra de Sintra and these attractions make Sintra a popular day trip from Lisbon.
One of the main tourist attraction is the Pena Palace and this is within walking distance of the Moors castle, so there is no need to wait for the tourist bus. The Pena Palace was designed by the artistic King Fernando II and the palace is an extravagant mixture of vivid colours and one stone carvings.
The interior has been retained to how it was when the monarchy fled Portugal in 1910 and is just as interesting as the exterior. The Pena Palace is the best of the three attractions visited in the day. Located in the town centre of Sintra we have Palacio Nacional de Sintra. The medieval styled National Palace is distinctive due to its two giant chimneys. Inside are beautifully decorated staterooms and a history that stretches from the 15th century.
For a guide please click here. Other highlights of Sintra include the decorative town hall, the charming shops and the pretty church of Igreja de Santa Maria. Sintra is the best location for food as the other tourist sites are out of town and have limited food options.
Visit Algarve
Some of the best and most beautiful beaches in the entire world are to be found in the Algarve. Hardly surprising then that the region is a favourite for sun-seekers from all over the world. They come in search of the natural heritage that is now managed in a sustainable fashion, in order to provide quality recreational facilities able to meet all kinds of requirements. There are beaches to suit every taste with the majority having gained due recognition in the form of the EU “Blue Flag” for quality standards.
Along its 200-kilometre coastline, the Algarve features all types of coves, clis and caves, its rocky beaches contrasting with broad expanses of sand. Dierent types of beach, but all bathed in the calm, warm seawaters of this coastline. Equally attractive is the Algarve’s mild climate all year round. Zoomarine is located in Guia, just a few kilometers from Albufeira, where you can watch presentations with dolphins, seals and sea lions, with tropical birds and birds of prey.
Here you and also an amazing aquarium with sharks, various habitats, Cinema4D, attractions, amusements and swimming pools, making your visit even more unforgettable. Unique sensations on a journey through a world of knowledge and adventure where adults and children discover the mysteries of marine life in a day full of surprises and emotions.
Visit Seville
Seville is the capital city of Andalusia. Located in the South of Spain, Seville, or Sevilla in Spanish, is one of the largest Spanish cities with over 700.000 inhabitants. The city of Seville is famous worldwide for its culture, monuments, traditions and artistic heritage. This is the birthplace of Flamenco and the city where the most amazing Easter processions take place. One of the most charming cities of Spain, Seville’s rich history has left the city stued with innumerable monuments like the awesome Cathedral, the third largest in the world, the Giralda tower, the wonderful Palace of the Reales Alcázares, the magical Barrio of Santa Cruz with its narrow streets, the Maestranza bullighting ring and the passion for Flamenco and the perfume of orange blossoms on every corner.
Situated in Cartuja Island Isla Magica – Magic Island, is one of the most important theme Park in Europe. In Isla Magica you will be surprised with incredible and last generation attractions, great audiovisuals, fascinating shows, animated parades and entertaining games, apart from several stores and restaurants for everyone.
