No ratings!

Situated on Foz do Lizandro in Ericeira, in a traditional, two-story, Portuguese house, this surf camp is the only camp right on Foz do Lizandro Beach. It has four-bed dorms, private rooms with two twin beds or one double bed, and shared bathrooms, all with fantastic views of the sea, guests can check the waves without leaving the premises.

Every dorm includes daily breakfast as well as dinner from Monday to Friday. For lunch, you can use the kitchen, have a bbq at the facility or go to the cafes on the beach (a five-minute walk away). The town offers free bikes to use, and car rentals near the area in case you want to check other places.

Surf lessons are available every day (except Sundays), as are a wide range of other non-surfing activities, both in the camp and in town. Employees at the camp speak English, and of course, Portuguese, and many backpackers and single travelers find that it is a great place to post up while in the area. Ericeira was Europe’s first world surfing reserve, and the second to be established worldwide—and for good reason. Many people consider the town to be the surf capital of Europe, due to the wide range of quality waves and large, enthusiastic surfing population.

THE ACCOMMODATION

The camp, a traditional, beautiful, two-level, Portuguese-style house, is located directly in front of Foz do Lizandro Beach, so you can watch the waves from the living room. There are also other houses near the camp with different room types. When not surfing you can enjoy a surf DVD or watch TV in the lounge room, lie down in the backyard daybed in the afternoon, have a BBQ with friends or enjoy a ride in the town’s free bikes.

Daily breakfast and dinner are served Monday through Friday, with international food and vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options accommodating all types of diets. In the kitchen right outside the main camp, you can find a coffee machine, microwave, and a toaster. There are also various cafes on the beach available for lunch, which are about a five-minute walk from the camp, or if you walk for 15 minutes,  you can eat at the restaurants in town for dinner.

The camp has fantastic managers and great staff with friendly vibes, so you are sure to enjoy your stay and always feel welcome. The chef is famous for his phenomenally good food, and of course, the surf is world-class.

The main camp has two rooms, and there are 14 more rooms located in the various houses nearby. We offer four-bed dorms, private rooms with two twin beds or one double bed, and shared bathrooms, all with fantastic views of the sea.

THE ACTIVITIES

Quality surf can be enjoyed between the months of April and October, and world-renowned Foz do Lizandro Beach is located right in front of the camp. The best month to visit depends on your skill level, with summer being the warmest and most popular, while the waves are bigger in the spring and fall.

A typical day at the camp: Breakfast is prepared by the chef, and presented along with coffee or tea. Guests can enjoy a view of the waves while eating, assess the conditions. We are also a surf school, anyone who wants can take a surf class or go surf independently. The guides take you to the best spots, so you know you are scoring wherever you surf. Many people opt for a midday trip to town for lunch by walking the 15 mins to town or going by bicycle, then come back to practice what they have learned in their surf classes, or simply chill at the house. You can enjoy a barbecue, then go surfing again before taking a walk into the fishing village or doing some hiking. The chef prepares dinner, and after the meal, you are free to relax at the house, watch a surf video DVD or TV, or do whatever you feel like.

The main activities available at the camp are surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking, skating, yoga, massage, playing table games, and sightseeing.

Our surf lessons include all equipment and last for 2-2.5 hours. There is one class per day for different levels, with a maximum of five students per instructor. Instructors speak English and Portuguese, and photos and video of the classes are available.

Other activities that are available in the area include snorkelling, diving, fishing in the charming fishing village, cruising on the beach, and enjoying the sunset.
