Discover New Zealand’s amazing surf by taking a guided tour on any of its two islands: The volcanic subtropical North Island and the mountainous green South Island. The South Island Tour operates luxury campervans and executive 4 wheel drive vehicles with lodge accommodation.
Tours are aimed at accomplished surfers who are keen to embark on a guided surf adventure and experience of a lifetime. You will decide with the surf guide the option best suited to your tastes and weather conditions. This is a customised surf tour and itineraries are up to clients.
The Tour
Two packages are available: Deluxe Campervan or 4-wheel drive with lodge/motel accommodation.
The Campervan sleeps six persons and has all comfort, including central heating, CD player and video. Cooked breakfast, lunch and fruits onboard and a diferent restaurant each night for dinner (not included)
The 4 Wheel drive vehicles are the latest model and allow maximum flexibility to get to the most remote spots, while taking you to the comfort of a lodge for the night.
These are custom made tours and itineraries are chosen by clients under the guidance of the local guide according to swell/weather conditions.
Minimum tour is 5 days and recommended for accomplished surfers only (no lessons!)
The Surf
From the golden sands of Able Tasman national park in the North, to the Antarctic waters in the far south, the South Island has a vast surfable coastline.
Here the West/East Coast divide is more noticeable than for the North Island, with the West Coast receiving the biggest swell directly from the Antarctic roaring 40’ and 50’. South Island surf is characterised by cold water - bring a good wetsuit, and uncrowded spots where you will be surfing on your own on many occasions.
